In his work “Stromata”, Clement from Alexandria serves us a very interesting concept about language. The theory considers the concepts (noemata) as identical in every man’s mind, as they are the copies of existing things. That’s why he states that thinking is the same in every culture. The language in fact is the one which changes from one culture to the other, being just a set of symbols (symbola) adjusted to the concepts of thinking.
If the thinking process keeps a certain correspondence with the objects of thinking, than the link between language and concepts, and as follows: between language and reality is only a “symbolic” matter.
